115 km/h DESCENTS – THE DRIVER ISN’T CALLED THE PILOT WITHOUT REASON

There are a select few locations in the Alps where clients can experience the drama and fear of an Olympic bobsled descent. Hunkered up behind the ‘pilot’, clients are flung between G-force inducing bends at mesmerising speeds.

For corporate ski clients, the Olympic bobsled activity is a superb, ‘money can't buy’ experience for both participants and spectators. The theatre of sharing the hallowed ice of Olympic legends, as well as the thrill of the ride, creates a special experience.

OLYMPIC BOBSLED PRACTICALITIES

Confined to the winter season (although summer, wheeled bobsled descents operate), this is a hugely rewarding, unique activity that can be undertaken in a very select number of locations in the Alps. Bobsled is synonymous with the snowy Alps and the team nature of the activity makes it ideal for corporate ski events. Clients are taken to the top of the bobsled track, kitted out with helmets and launched down the icy tube, behind a professional ‘pilot’. Whilst the bob spends limited in the air, the comparisons with aircraft is entirely justified as the pilot steers the bobsled up the banks and around the G-force inducing bends.

As well as the thrill of riding down the winding track at break-neck speeds, the track offers many vantage points and provides a great spectacle for the entire team as they wait for / or reflect on their descent of the icy track. Drinks and award ceremonies are all part of the pomp that can be arranged.

OLYMPIC BOBSLED LOCATIONS

Host of 2 winter Games, the Olympic legacy in Innsbruck includes the Igls bobsled track which hosts group bobsled events, just 15 minutes from the city centre.

INNSBRUCK

Located in La Plagne, the Olympic bobsled track can be accessed by clients during a stop off in the resort transfer to Val d’Isère. Top speeds reach 120 km/h.
