KAPRUN SKIING

There are 3 main ski areas around Kaprun, with the Maiskogel ski area accessed from the heart of the resort. Beginner skiing, great access to the slopes and après ski bars at the base-station are all on offer at the Maiskogel.

High above the village is the mighty Kitzsteinhorn Glacier, offering skiing from October through to early summer and fantastic, snow sure slopes offering incredible views of the highest peaks in Austria and the wonderful Lake Zell.

The Kitzsteinhorn Glacier offers some of the best freeride skiing in the area, with several off-piste sectors available. An info point for the freeride sectors offers live safety information and descriptions of the off-piste routes. The height offers a great chance of powder snow.

The recent connection between the Maiskogel and the Kitzsteinhorn Glacier areas means clients leave and return to the heart of Kaprun without the need for the road connections to the glacier base-station.

Just across the valley, the Schmittenhöhe ski area at Zell am See ski is included in a shared ski pass. Gentle cruisers high up contrast to the steep lower slopes, pistes which drop toward the stunning lake.

Saalbach-Hinterglemm-Leogang-Fieberbrunn is the biggest ski region south of Salzburg and is included in the regional ski pass. Saalbach is an intermediates dream, Hinterglemm has steeps & Fieberbrunn is an absolute off-piste Mecca.

KAPRUN RESORT

Kaprun is a pretty town in flat valley, with glacial peaks to the south and Lake Zell and Zell am See to the north. There are ski lifts, après ski bars, restaurants, and hotels in the resort centre.

Kaprun Castle is prominent on the skyline of the village, a historic fortification which now offers a wonderful event space. On the opposite side of the village is the superb Tauern Spa, the best thermal spa in the region.

The Kitzsteinhorn Glacier ensures that there is a lengthy winter season in the village, often from October through to early summer. In spring it is possible to ski in the morning and enjoy a round of golf in the afternoon.

Scenic flights are possible from the local airfield with flights over the glaciers above Kaprun. There are activities on the local rivers and lakes, as well as the nearby resorts and the local mountains.

Zell am See is located to the north of Kaprun and is one of the principal towns of the region. The 2 towns are jointly marketed and share some superb facilities, including meeting venues, entertainment, and event activities.

The fantastic city of Salzburg can be reached by train from Zell am See station, as well as road, and can be included in an event programme during arrival or departure from Kaprun.

KAPRUN APRÈS SKI

The Maiskogel base-station is the scene for much of the Kaprun après ski action, with terraces and clubs pumping out the classic Euro-pop that is synonymous with Austria, including the Baumbar - an iconic après ski venue.

For some, the après ski starts higher and an afternoon soaking in the sun and sounds of the Ice camp, bang in the middle of the Kitzsteinhorn Glacier is something special – a great meeting point for corporate ski events.

On the return to Kaprun, there are serval mountain huts on the slopes, offering salvation for those who can't tear themselves from the expansive vistas. The Baumbar awaits lower down, and few manage to avoid its pull.

As well as being a quaint lakeside town, Zell am See is alive through the winter with après ski. The base-station umbrella bars heave and in Crazy Daisy, Zell has an après ski institution. Corporate ski groups will have plenty of après ski options in Zell am See – Kaprun.

KAPRUN MEETING & SEMINAR EVENTS

Offering modern and stylish meeting facilities, the Tauern Spa is located just on the edge of Kaprun in the open valley. Breakouts include views over the wonderful valley and glaciers, or a dip in the thermal waters.

The main congress centre in the region is the Ferry Porsche Congress centre, an architectural marvel in the heart of Zell am See, offering superb professional meeting and seminar facilities.

There are several hotels in Kaprun offering meeting and seminar facilities. For something a little more historic, the Kaprun Castle provides various rooms that can be used for presentations, meetings, and social events.

For event planners looking to elevate the thoughts of event attendees, there are several locations around Kaprun, on glacier and in the mountains where meetings and seminars can take place.
