Skiing takes place from the eastern end of the valley near Saalfelden, to the western end at Hinterglemm, on both the southern and northern facing slopes. The skiing in the Saalbach sector takes place on predominantly south facing slopes with numerous intermediate slopes located between Vorderglemm and Saalbach, as well as the slope and lift connection to the Leogang sector.

The skiing is almost all tree-lined and is ideal for intermediate skiers and snowboarders. To the west of Saalbach, slopes and lifts connect to the Hinterglemm ski sector and from here into the newly connected sector of Fieberbrunn. The Saalbach ski sector is served by modern, high-capacity lifts, is an intermediate skier’s dream and has a huge number of mountain huts.

To the west of the Saalbach ski area is the Hinterglemm ski sector. With a similar height and vertical to the Saalbach sector, Hinterglemm offers arguably a bigger and better ski area with steeper skiing. The Hinterglemm skiing on the south side of the resort, beneath Zwölferkogel offers some challenging gradients, whilst the Westgipfel ski route is located close by.

For intermediates looking to cover some large distances, it is possible to ski the circuit running between Saalbach and Hinterglemm in an anti-clockwise direction. Side trips into both Leogang and Hinterglemm add to the distances available. There remains a project to link the Saalbach-Hinterglemm ski region to Zell am See in the south.

Après ski

Both Saalbach and Hinterglemm rumble till late with some of the best après ski in the whole of the Alps.

Toboggan evening

Head to the moonlit peaks and after food, drink and music, descend to the valley on an Austrian toboggan.

Saalbach and Hinterglemm are the principal towns in the long and narrow Glemmtal valley. Saalbach is the first resort reached by road and is low-rise, clustered around a church and full of life. The central area, from the church through to the beginner slopes at the Kohlmaisbahn are busy with après ski bars and entertainment.

There are shops and restaurants in the heart of Saalbach. There are ski lifts and ski pistes linking much of the resort with the skiing whilst the southern flank of Saalbach, across the river is more tranquil.

Hinterglemm is located further west down the valley and whilst the 2 resorts are distinct, their dwellings essentially merge to form one long conurbation. Like Saalbach, Hinterglemm has a lively central area of the resort with much of the après ski action taking place around the beginner’s slopes by the Unterschwarzach lift.

Lifts leave both sides of the valley and there are numerous slopes reaching back in the resort. Shops, bars and restaurants are numerous in Hinterglemm.

One of the very best anywhere – Saalbach and Hinterglemm are an après ski regional epicentre throughout the winter months. Saalbach has a wide range of bars après ski bars across the central area and there are numerous mountain huts which ensnare revellers from mid-afternoon.

Back in the resort, Saalbach après ski action takes place around the hugely popular bars on the fringe of the beginner’s slopes, including the outdoor terraces at Bauers Skialm.

Hinterglemm similarly boasts a pulsating après ski scene with numerous large mountain huts catching passing skiers who succumb to temptation. One of the classic Hinterglemm mountain huts is the Goaßstall which serves après skier needs alongside its livestock in the form of goats, just above the valley.

On the opposite side of the resort, Der Schwarzacher offers ultra-modern drinking and dining, with some great après ski terrace bars.

Saalbach is a great choice for corporate ski trips and ski groups looking to deliver a meeting & seminar or incentive & reward event. Formal meeting space is available in the heart of Saalbach in superb, contemporary designed, modular meeting rooms, with immediate access to the resort facilities & attractions.

There are further meeting rooms available in resort hotels, whilst there are a number of fantastic activities to complement a corporate ski trip, including ice driving, paragliding, tobogganing and of course, après ski.

Hinterglemm shares many of the excellent corporate ski event attributes of Saalbach. There are some superb meeting spaces located in Hinterglemm with the Hotel Der Schwarzacher offering fantastic contemporary spaces, terraces and spa – ideal venues for corporate ski trip meetings.

Après ski and activities such as ice carting make Hinterglemm an excellent location for corporate ski trips.

I’m a little jaded after “The best Company Ski Trip in 10 Years” - I’ve had lots of really great feedback from the team.

Thanks again to your help in the run up to the trip and especially upon arrival, it really set the tone for the whole event and was appreciated by all. Likewise the Après Ski ran like a dream and was really good fun.
