Together the twin ski resorts of Lech and Zürs are the located in the snowiest region of the Alps, in the heart of (most probably) the best ski region in Austria and offer some of the most high-end resort experiences in the Alps. It is little wonder that Lech-Zürs attract European Royals and successful people, year after year.

LECH ZÜRS SKIING

This northern part of the Arlberg ski region is reputed to be the snowiest part of the Alps. With recent lift connections, to Warth in the north and St Anton / Stuben in the south, the Arlberg is now fully connected and provides possibly the best ski region in Austria.

Lech am Arlberg is famed for its snow and intermediate skiing on both sides of the resort. There are tree-lined ski runs just above the resort and a long blue piste (200) which runs from the top station in Lech, down through Oberlech and back into the resort centre. It is also possible to head into Warth from Lech, believed to be the snowiest ski area in the Alps.

Taking the Rüfikopfbahn cable car to the south east of Lech reaches the Zürs am Arlberg ski area. This is the starting point of the famous White Ring ski circuit which laps the villages of Lech and Zürs and forms an annual ski race.

The Zürs ski area is slightly higher and all the skiing takes place above the treeline. The skiing in Zürs offers a little more advanced skiing and the off-piste and ski route back into Zug (part of the White Ring) offer the better skiers some excellent terrain. Heli-skiing is offered from the Lech-Zürs ski area with launch pads in both ski areas.

LECH ZÜRS SKI RESORTS

Lech am Arlberg is about as charming and seductive a ski resort as any global mountain resort. The scenery is staggering, the river cutting through the resort is spell-binding, whilst the top-quality hotels mingle with farm buildings and nature - the setting really is something out of the ordinary, even for the Austrian Alps.

There are strict limits on the development in Lech am Arlberg and the resort, nestled around its ancient church, is possibly the most mesmerising there is. There are a number of shops and bars, people stroll the river bank walk ways & winter walking paths and the atmosphere, especially when the Christmas markets are operating is magical.

Located a few hundred metres above Lech is Oberlech, a fully ski-in / ski-out (and seriously luxurious) resort that is connected to Lech by cable car. The cable car runs until the early hours and guests in Oberlech get immediate access to the Lech skiing and can also access the entertainment and dining of Lech.

Zürs is located to the south of Lech on the high altitude Flexenpass. It is resolutely luxurious with 5-star properties and has immediate or ski-in / ski-out access to the slopes. Less lively than Lech, a bus connects Lech and Zürs into the evening.

LECH ZÜRS APRÈS SKI

Lech am Arlberg offers high-end après ski, complete with sheepskin rugs, heat lamps and cocktails. There are riverside bars to relax in, from which to gaze over the superb mountains and watch the successful people of Lech stroll the paths.
