Paragliding flights offer skiers and non-skiers the chance to see the world from a whole new perspective - a unique and truly bird's-eye view of the area. Fast and with precipitous drops, tandem paragliding flights are spectacular.
Whether as a non-ski activity or a unique way to finish a day of skiing, tandem flights take clients back to the resort in an unforgettable fashion. In truth, the head for heights isn't something needed for take off, and by that stage, it's too late!
There are a couple of common ways to launch off snow, either on foot or on skis. Both take-offs require a slope and commitment from the pilot and passenger to accelerate and keep moving until the paraglider wing hauls them off terra firma.
Unlike bungee jumping, less nerve is required since the passenger is on the ground and launches off an incline. The height between the flight and the valley floor can be in excess of 1km, making for some incredible views.
Pilots are specifically trained to undertake tandem paragliding flights. The passenger (the client) is strapped to the pilot and required to follow the pilot’s instructions. Run like hell. Screaming is optional.
Once airborne, the passenger can become more involved in the flight as the canopy is steered to access the thermals that maintain altitude. Very often, pilots will have an action camera mounted somewhere to capture the flight, while landings in resorts can be dramatic and memorable occasions.
