Val Gardena skiing

The Dolomites is one of the most recognisable brands in the Alpine world, whilst the Sella Ronda is amongst the most well-known ski circuits anywhere. The remarkable backdrop of the Dolomites forms the visual centre of the Sella Ronda ski circuit which can be skied in a clockwise or counter-clockwise route, with numerous embarkation points along the circuit, from the village resorts that line the trail.

Most competent intermediate skiers can tackle the Sella Ronda in under a day. There are endless restaurant terraces to dine on during the circuit, whilst photo opportunities are never-ending.

On the northern side of the resort, the pistes back into Selva Gardena are steep and challenging with the Saslong piste hosting the annual FIS downhill race. The centre of the resort is best accessed from the eastern side of the village with easier runs and the ski trail winding through the heart of the resort. The ski region is exceptional for intermediate skiers and snowboarders, with huge ski resources amid the wonderful terrain.

For high-altitude slopes, the Marmolda glacier offers skiing to over 3200m, right in the granite centre of the Sella Ronda circuit.

Low-rise and traditional, the town has a great atmosphere, in addition to its attractive looks. Numerous après ski bars, restaurants and shops are located in the centre of Selva di Val Gardena.

Santa Cristina is an alternative village in Val Gardena, located a few minutes along the road from Selva di Val Gardena. With ski lifts accessing the Sella Ronda ski circuit and ski pistes back to the resort, Santa Cristina is ideally located for skiing.

Another attractive resort set in stunning surroundings is Santa Cristina, a village offering numerous activities.

Val Gardena apres ski

Selva di Val Gardena has a good range of lively après ski bars in the resort, plus several mountain huts for afternoon drinks in the sun. Saltos and Luislkeller are located on the lower slopes that cut through the village, whilst La Stua is found on the main street, close to the resort centre, ski pistes and main gondola.

These bars offer a good atmosphere during peak season, with schnapps skis, beer games and bites to eat, indoors and on outdoor terraces.

There are few better places in the world to recline in a sun lounger with a glass or mug of Vin Brulé, amongst the remarkable surroundings of the Dolomites, as sunset approaches. Numerous wonderful huts can be found throughout the ski region to relax and enjoy an afternoon drink.

The top station of the Ciampinoi offers a great snowy terrace with the scent of Vin Brulé wafting through the air. With the option of a download on the gondola, there is little to stop that last round of drinks before the fun in the resort begins.
