The Flims Laax Falera ski region is amongst the best in the area. It is high-altitude with a top height of 3018m at the Vorab glacier. Laax resort lies at 1100m, offering an almost 2km vertical from top to bottom. The slopes are south-facing and sunny, stretching across a plateau from Falera to the west of Laax to Flims in the east.
The ski area is an intermediates paradise with long blue and red pistes crossing the ski area. With over 200km of pistes and 28 lifts, the ski area is an impressive size. The scenery is spectacular (UNESCO good) and best enjoyed from La Siala, at the northern edge of the ski area. The lower slopes above Flims, Laax and Falera are treelined, offering a great contrast with the open, high-altitude skiing at the top of the ski area.
Skiing into Falera or Flims is possible for lunch or afternoon drinks in the sun. There are also numerous mountain huts across the ski area with everything from contemporary design to historic rustic. Long known for its snowboarding and freestyle community, Laax is a huge draw for those looking for snowpark action.
The ski area around Crap Sogn Gion is the epicentre of park action with numerous parks and pipes hosting international events and attracting some of the best riders around. Laax is a compact resort with everything easily reached by foot. There are a number of hotels dotted around the resort centre with the Rockresort offering a wonderful modern façade in the central area. A gondola and cable car leave from the centre of Laax whilst a ski piste returns riders right back to the heart of the resort.
Minimalist, uncluttered and contemporary architecture dominates the resort and offers a wonderful contrast to the nature on the resort's edge. There are several impressive restaurants in the resort centre, from traditional Swiss dishes to Asian and fusion cuisine.
The compact nature of Laax ensures that the resort centre is often bustling with visitors. The INDY Bar is the place to be after the lifts close with local bands playing on the outdoor stage. The Freestyle Academy is a fantastic facility in the resort, with some seriously cool trampoline, skate and ramp action, all taking place in a hip venue.
Just across the plateau is Flims, a far more traditional and larger resort. Flims is surrounded by forests and rivers and has a wide selection of restaurants, shops, hotels and bars.
The compact centre of Laax offers surprisingly good après ski on a small, local scale. INDY Bar is the pick of the bunch with its slope-side access – it’s the perfect place to kick off the skis or snowboard and lounge next to the piste. The décor is contemporary and super stylish. There is an outdoor stage where local bands play live music.
Other highlights include the Tankstelle with its retro furniture and the Riders Lounge, with its modern, functionalist interior and live music – very urban and cool.
On the mountain, the Satellite Bar in the GALAAXY complex offers an outdoor terrace with sun loungers and a very cool vibe. Additional options to Laax are available in Flims which has a more traditional resort and clientele, with some après ski terraces around the lift station.
One of the most popular après ski joints is the Legna Bar located at the base station of the Flims ski lifts and ski piste back to the resort. Food, drink and an outdoor terrace entertain the crowds throughout the winter.

For large outdoor events, the Prau la Selva sports centre can accommodate up to 5000 in its outdoor arena.
