Big September powder returns to Austria

The heavens opened overnight in the Innsbruck region and remain very much open today with significant snow falls across the region around Innsbruck.

The glaciers are receiving huge snow accumulation - the Stubai Glacier is currently reporting nearly half a metre of new snow and the Hintertux Glacier will have had a similar amount. With snow forecast right through the day and falling as low as 570m in Innsbruck the new snow level on the glaciers could be somewhere between 50cm and 1m by the time the snow storms pass later tomorrow. Clearer weather from mid-week onwards should provide some epic ski conditions for those lucky enough to get on the snow. This huge snow storm also signals the start of the Autumn glacier skiing season in Austria and it is very likely that most or all of the glaciers will be opening once this snow groomed flat.
