The Hintertux Glacier in Austria is boasting 14 lifts in operation, Solden just west along the Austrian / Italian border is offering 16 lifts for its visitors and the Stubai Glacier 17 lifts. Les 2 Alpes, France has 10 lifts in operation. Zermatt is reporting 1.5m of snow making it the snowiest ski area in the Alps right now. Together these resort stats are a reminder that skiing in autumn should never be discounted. Powder days, stunning autumnal light and (mid -week at least) some great empty(ish) pistes await.
