The White Lounge on the Ahorn side of the Mayrhofen ski area is one such area where the entire group can come together and enjoy the magnificence of the Zillertal Valley. The White Lounge is located some 100m or so above the new Freiraum restaurant and top station of the Ahorn cable car - the biggest in Austria. The White Lounge is connected by a beginners' moving carpet and offers an extensive range of options both indoor and outdoor to relax, take in some beats and mix with friends and colleagues. There are igloo villages popping up all over the Alps but this is one of the originals and has a great feel to it. Views across to the Penken and south down the valley toward the Hintertux Glacier are sumptuous.
For those without skis or boards it is ideal to reach and depart from the centre of Mayrhofen whilst beginners and intermediates are able to ski / ride to the White Lounge and better skiers / snowboarders can launch themselves down a gentle, wide and undulating blue piste under the gaze of colleagues. The White Lounge offers the chance to come together for afternoon drinks and a rendezvous back in the valley with skiers and boarders racing the foot passengers back to the resort and the slope-side treats on offer in Mayrhofen.
