Arguably the most attractive mountain range in the world, the Dolomites have missed out on the record snowfalls which hit the northern alps in January. That was until last weekend when the first heavy falls in a while descended on the region. Then this week, the skies cleared, and the staggering geology of the region was perfectly framed.
February is often a no-go month for corporate ski events, given the concurrent European school holidays, but this week has seen pleasantly few people on the snow. As usual, the Sella Ronda had a few tight spots today but at first lift and (naturally) lunch time, the slopes were pretty scarcely populated. You can't really criticise those taking a break on such a perfect ski day, given the food and vistas on offer.
More snow is forecast for the coming week but expect some crowds as well. It is just 3 weeks until our peak winter event month begins so we will be looking to visit some of our ‘under the radar’ resorts to escape the crowds and get a few more days like today.
