Back in 2001, the World Ski Championships in St Anton left a lasting legacy, long before the concept was used to buy committee votes. What remains today are some of the best meeting facilities in the Alps, venues that are typically found only in Alpine cities.

The Arlberg WellCom

The relocation of the mainline train track and station not only provided a superb station that connects St Anton with southern Munich, Zurich and much of Austria, it also freed up land to develop the WellCom facility – a wellness and communication (conference centre) facility to serve the region. Almost 2000 people can be seated in theatre layout. The main hall can be subdivided, and numerous smaller meeting rooms are located within the complex, some of which are suspended from the ceiling. As an Alpine twist, sheep can be found grazing on the roof of the main hall at times.

Intimate venues with meaning

Another legacy structure in St Anton is the finish area of the FIS racecourse. This venue offers intimate rooms rich in sporting history. Breakouts can be enjoyed on the terraces overlooking the finish area of the race piste. Even for those without an intrinsic knowledge of ski racing, it is hard not to be moved by the significance and memorabilia of this venue.

A step further back in time

Dating back to 1912, the Arlberg Kandahar House is one of the most prominent buildings in the Arlberg and is currently owned by the municipality of St. Anton. Steeped in history and housing a ski and local history museum, the venue can be adapted to host meetings in refined surroundings. The ornate building opens out onto wonderful gardens and offers views over the ski pistes and east along the valley.

When to arrange a meeting event in St Anton

Meetings can be arranged throughout the year. Winter has the obvious attraction of combining meetings with winter sports, and while peak winter is a popular time and a challenge to source group accommodation, pre-Christmas and April offer some great options. Spring, summer, and autumn offer months of meeting and offsite event options, with plenty of accommodation options, great activities, and stunning natural scenery.
