By some measure, the least enjoyable part of any corporate ski trip - resort transfers are a necessary evil, taking clients from airports to remote, glorious locations. Distances vary greatly & company ski trip resort transfers need not be too painful.

On a short-duration corporate ski trip, client event planners can be forgiven for an obsession with short airport transfers. Some of the best corporate ski resorts in the Alps are a 3-hour transfer grind from the airport.

Fortunately, whilst Zermatt, Val Thorens and Val d’Isère are too far for some groups, there are world-class options closer to an hour from the arrival airport – superb resorts such as St Anton, La Clusaz or Morzine.

Distance by road is one aspect, but other considerations include the amount of the journey spent on motorways and the size of the arrival airport. Innsbruck is seconds from baggage claim to taxi rank. Geneva isn’t!

Landing on mountainsides is usually the preserve of a plane in distress, yet there are airstrips in, or on the doorstep of mega-resorts such as St Moritz, Courchevel and Méribel, offering access to small planes and helicopters.

Why do short ski resort transfers matter?

Maximise limited time

With a short break corporate ski trip, time is limited. A world far removed from their daily lives awaits in the peaks, and there is a longing to arrive and appreciate the trappings of the ski resort.

Minimise fatigue

The least enjoyable part of any event, multi-leg travel, can drag on and on. The final leg of the journey, from the airport to the resort, needs to be as short as possible to avoid fatigue.

Cost savings

The shorter the coach transfer, the less it costs. The irony of ski resort transfer is that the longer it takes, the more it costs, and the less it is enjoyed. A long transfer is a perfect storm that needs avoiding.
