Event planners go to huge lengths to create impactful events. Locations, activities and venues are sourced to wow the client. Sometimes, the chance arises to add layers of sheen to an event – unforgettable add-ons to enhance client experiences. Free-to-access outdoor art is one of those elements - visually stimulating, these experiences can seamlessly enrich an existing programme.

How does it work?

The Outdoors is known to positively impact human emotions and well-being – those viewing public art displays should be open to further stimulation. Experiencing art outdoors thus creates a more immersive and multi-sensory experience. The changing light and atmosphere can amplify a setting and the art itself. Being in fresh air, rid of our daily ceilings, art can be a secondary stimulus, experienced in a relaxed and informal setting.

Escape the mountains

Skyspace in Lech am Arlberg is a wonderfully impactful piece of public art. Gone are the towering peaks as clients enter a domed room with a single opening in the roof above. The peaks are replaced with a circular patch of sky, light changes and the clouds race by. It is an eye on the heavens and a remarkably impactful way to showcase our sky. Clients sit in a circular seating layout, relax and contemplate the colours and patterns of the sky. How often do we do that?

A Nordic Banksy

Stavanger is the capital of Norway’s energy industry. An already beautiful city centre has been enhanced with a series of street art and murals that tell a societal and city story as clients make their way through the city. There is the surprise element of discovering new pieces in unusual locations and the contrasting backdrop of the art against the waterfront, entertainment and retail backdrops.

Street art UNESCO-style

Public art doesn’t always need to be staged, sometimes the fabric of a destination is the art. Venice is one such place, a museum of astonishing significance that is, in fact, a place of residence, business, entertainment, commerce, construction, health care - pretty much every aspect of modern life takes place amongst the stupendous riches of this unique lagoon. Hotel balconies, dinner venues, trips to the ‘taxi’ rank – they all involve brushes with unfathomably rich history. Venice offers a near sensory overload – it is utterly captivating and yet scarcely believable.

Art at the heart of government

Some seats of Government can feel somewhat dull. Not The Hague, this non-capital, parliament-hosting city is home to some of the finest galleries and museums in the world. The artistic feast isn’t all hidden away either - the city boasts art installations for the public to browse on city tours or work commutes. Uplifting and setting the tone for the city, The Hague offers a stunning artistic backdrop for a corporate event.

Why go in?

Bathed in Mediterranean sunshine, the Pompidou Centre Málaga offers a wonderful art collection in its subterranean rooms. Yet its above-ground exterior is enough to amaze visitors. Its coloured glass reacts to the changing light and creates a stunning visual spectacle. En route to the waterfront and Michelin dining, clients stop at this landmark and marvel at its contemporary beauty. It is truly uplifting, even without entering.
