Epic après ski to complement the stunning Chamonix scenery, this revered town knows how to party with the elite of France. Après ski to test the best corporate ski groups.

Snowflake

As captivating as any mountain village in the world, and with off-piste skiing to test the very best, it is fitting that Chamonix delivers big when the ski lifts close. In Chambre Neuf and La Folie Douce, Chamonix has 2 of the best après ski venues in France.

The compact centre of Chamonix-Mont-Blanc is alive throughout the year, but winter is where the real magic happens, as skiers and boarders park up their vehicles and swap the snow for a tabletop.

La Folie Douce grabs all the headlines in Chamonix and the terrace is a special place to be after the lifts close. Yet before the arrival of this iconic brand, the après ski cluster around the Chambre 9 had been pumping for many years.

Between these 2 après ski hotspots is the main pedestrianised centre of Chamonix-Mont-Blanc with endless bars, terraces, and cellars. Chamonix après ski is as good as any in France – rest-up before arrival.

CHAMBRE NEUF

The original and (probably) best après ski venue in Chamonix-Mont-Blanc. Cavernous it isn’t, but that doesn’t prevent the masses descending on it for beer, music, and dance. Mid-afternoon, mid-season, Chambre Neuf is rocking.

Consistently heaving for several hours during early evening, the layout and concept of the Chambre Neuf is simple – a single room with a bar at one end and stage at the other. Like the Jet Stream, drinks flow overhead from the bar to the revellers.

For those needing to pause for breath, there are terraces outside the bar. Escape the crush, dust yourself down and then head back into the packed wilds of Chambre Neuf with its Scandinavian / international mix of après skiing revellers.

Next to the MESS Chamonix for dinner and Elevation 1904 for further brews, this is the après ski hub of Chamonix-Mont-Blanc. Visit with your eyes wide open, missed breakfasts are a near certainty.

LA FOLIE DOUCE CHAMONIX

Located at the bottom of the slopes and like a black hole, La Folie Douce Chamonix draws in and crushes any matter within reach. Every good intention is shattered by this après ski behemoth.

La Folie Douce Chamonix features an epic terrace with views over the town skyline and peaks. There are tables with fireplaces, cabaret and dancing entertainment and DJs which play into the evening.

When the après ski terrace winds down there is an indoor bar to enjoy, whilst downstairs there is a nightclub to drink and dance in until the early hours. Be prepared for the long haul in La Folie Douce Chamonix.

For those looking for an off-ramp, the Folie also has a couple of restaurants to retreat to after the après ski, serving contemporary French dishes in stylish surroundings.

MESS CHAMONIX

MESS Chamonix is a more recent addition to the cluster of après ski around the train station including Chambre Neuf and Elevation 1904. The 3 venues form the hub of après ski in Chamonix-Mont-Blanc.

The MESS DJ is known to go mobile and positions his set on the improvised dance floor, surrounded by punters dancing on the tables.

At the back of MESS there is a large, elevated terrace for group events. The terrace is supplemented by a wonderful private room, offering a great party venue with stunning views over the local peaks.

MESS also features a restaurant to move into once the après ski dies down. Contemporary French food from the grill is the order of the day.

MICRO BREWERY CHAMONIX

A few hundred metres from the centre, MBC offers another twist on Chamonix après ski. Local beers are produced in-house using Chamonix water & local knowhow and there is even the option of a brewery tour and tasting.

Drink and eat on the multiple tables, under screens of live sport. As well as being a brew pub, MBC is a sports bar.

Table dancing isn’t usually the vibe in the MBC, that can be found elsewhere in Chamonix. Yet the Micro Brewery Chamonix does boast a traditional schnapps ski for visitors to get down and dirty.

The MBC has a popular kitchen serving the full range of French specialities from steaks to vegan dishes.

L’M

With a great location on main pedestrianised street L’M is in the heart of Chamonix life. There is an outdoor heated terrace to drink on and people-watch from.

Inside L’M there is a restaurant for dining and escaping the cold.

The terrace bar of L’M regularly features live music with acoustic sets and covers of classic hits. Passers-by stop to take in the sounds and atmosphere of central Chamonix.

L’M is close to many other bars and restaurants – ideal for moving on to.
