Morzine is a vibrant town in the northern French Alps. This market town is bustling throughout the winter with visitors who cram into its live music bars and restaurants. Ski lifts leave for the Pleney and Super Morzine sectors from the village centre.
Avoriaz is a ski-in, ski-out resort located on a dramatic rocky 1800m altitude plateau. It has striking architecture and a pumping La Folie Douce. The resorts are hugely different but highly complementary.
Morzine is one of the most atmospheric and charming ski resorts in France. It is a traditional market town dominated by small hotels and chalets and has a wonderful, unspoilt feel to it. It bustles with tourists but retains its charm as a traditional Alpine village.
The central area is full of live music bars, restaurants and shops. Morzine's two primary ski lifts are also found in this area, one serving Pleney and the other, the Super Morzine sector.
SHORT AIRPORT TRANSFERS
Morzine has one of the shortest airport transfers from Geneva. Transfers are always the least enjoyable part of any corporate ski trip, and short transfers put bums on ski lifts and après ski stools rather than taxi transfer seats.
BUZZING NIGHTLIFE
Morzine is one of the liveliest ski resorts in France. Bars include slopeside apres ski terraces in Morzine and Super Morzine, as well as live music venues with regular acts and sports bars. La Folie Douce Avoriaz is a regular starting point for the action, whilst those with stamina can stay out until 05:00.
CENTRAL SKI LIFTS
The Pleney and Super Morzine ski areas are connected by ski lifts that leave the centre of Morzine. The Pleney ski area has pistes running back to the centre of the resort, and the Super Morzine ski lift station is located in the main town square.
GREAT CHOICE OF RESTAURANTS
There is an excellent selection of restaurants across the centre of Morzine. Many offer good value, and some can take large corporate groups. These restaurants are easy to access and spill out onto the busy streets of central Morzine, with its bars and clubs,
LOTS FOR NON-SKIERS
Not everyone on a corporate ski trip will strap on skis or a snowboard - offering a range of non-ski activities is key. Morzine has a superb mix of non-ski activities, from the thrills of paragliding and ice diving to spa days and yoga.
The futuristic skyline of Avoriaz is visible from miles away. The cutting-edge village sits on a high-altitude plateau, surrounded by sheer rock faces. The resort is car-free and fully ski-in, ski-out.
The village is dissected by ski pistes and the only transport consists of pisten-bully taxis, skidoos and horse-drawn carriages. The resort is made of multiple apartments and a small number of hotels. Ground-level commercial units include bars, shops and restaurants.
Avoriaz hosts La Folie Douce, offering pulsating apres ski until 18:00 each day.
LA FOLIE DOUCE
The biggest name in French après ski, La Folie Douce Avoriaz, offers a daily, wild celebration of life in the mountains. The theatre and sounds of La Folie Douce in the early evening are unsurpassed in the French Alps. As tests of willpower go, few resist the pull of this iconic terrace.
SKI-IN, SKI-OUT
Located at 1800m elevation, Avoriaz is completely ski-in, ski-out. Ski pistes dissect the resort - the only transport in the resort are pisten-bully transporters, snowmobiles and horse-drawn carriages.
HIGH-ALTITUDE SKIING
Avoriaz is the highest ski resort in the region and receives some of the deepest snow accumulations in the Alps. Ski pistes and lifts are found on both sides of the resort and take guests higher into the fantastic Avoriaz ski region.
NON-SKI ACTIVITIES
Avoriaz is a purpose-built, high-altitude ski resort, and much planning went into the facilities of this stand-alone resort. There is an indoor swimming pool in the heart of the resort and plenty to do on the snow, including tobogganing, winter walking, and snowshoeing. Action sports such as tandem paragliding are also possible.
GOOD AIRPORT TRANSFER
Whilst slightly further than Morzine, Avoriaz can still offer good resort transfers, especially when staying at the Prodains base station of Avoriaz. Alternatively, it is possible to have clients leave the transfer coach at the Prodains Express gondola and take the last leg of the trip by ski lift. Luggage transport services are possible.
